Travel Clinic

Please book your appointment for travel vaccinations at least 6 weeks in advance of your holiday otherwise it may be difficult to accommodate you as we have a limited number of appointments available. It should also be noted that to offer you full protection the vaccinations necessary or recommended for the country or area you are visiting must be administered at least 2 weeks prior to departure of your holiday. We require you to fill in a travel questionnaire before coming to your booked appointment so please make sure that this is completed well in advance of your appointment with the Practice nurse.

THEREFORE PLEASE BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT EARLY TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT!

The Practice is pleased to administer the limited range of travel vaccinations which are available on the NHS, and are provided FREE of charge to practice registered patients. These include;

– Hepatitis A
– Typhoid
– Diphtheria*
– Tetnus*
– Polio*
* May be combined

We do not provide advice as to which other vaccinations you may require for overseas travel including to areas of “higher risk” and in these circumstances we recommend the following excellent resources to establish what protection you should have for the area you are travelling to.

If the advice is to have vaccinations other than those listed above, you will need to arrange to have these administered privately.

It should also be noted that;

– The Practice is not a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre (YFVC)
– Malaria medication can be obtained “over the counter” from most large pharmacies. Please refer to the following travel site www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk for suitable malaria prophylaxis
– There is a global manufacturing shortage of Hepatitis A & Hepatitis B vaccines. We do not currently hold any surgery stock of these vaccines.

Please refer to the following travel site www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk for advice on your planned destination. If you require vaccination then this must be arranged through a travel clinic until further notice. We are unlikely to get any stock until 2018

Please see attached Travel Health Advice Leaflet to help you to stay healthy on your trip. Please make sure you read it following on from your appointment with us.
